Even if you prefer to wander on your own (as I often do), meeting Ilia, my guide from A&R Tours, was a wonderful experience. We toured the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel together. I have heard a guide is essential here and in my opinion, that is right! A&R came highly recommended and they did not disappoint. In fact, they exceeded *all* of my expectations. I had a personal emergency on the day of my tour and they communicated with me almost immediately to make sure I still made my tour and that my guide knew about this.

Ilia was superb. Not only was she charming, friendly and adorable, but her knowledge of the subject matter was truly impressive. Not only could she speak to the iconography of the images, but also to the plan and purpose of each room and gallery. I enjoyed listening to her cheerful, educated and accessible explanations about everything. She did something awesome, too. Before we headed to the Sistine Chapel, she sat me down and explained the images and what I would be seeing and the best way to interpret them.
Then she waited patiently while I took in the chapel at my own speed. And in the end, she took time to help me purchase a special rosary as a gift for a beloved person back home - it was super nice to have someone ask the clerks some questions for me, as I do not speak Italian. Ilia was so sweet - and I feel I have left a friend in Rome! I would highly recommend this tour company and I recommend Ilia without reservation and with enthusiasm!!

Professional, Personal and Passionate, these three words say it all about A&R Tours. I'd been to the Vatican Museums before and was overwhelmed, so this time I decided to hire a guide, and honestly, I couldn't have found anyone better! A&R brought it to life. What a great time we had with "A&R!" You know, there are tours, and then there are TOURS! That was a huge blessing, to learn so much, and meet two great friends at the same time. After that marvelous departure of yours, we knew we'd already done everything God had for us to do in Rome. We're still talking about the trip, and those two, and how great everything was. I only buy Italian wine now, and we did a look-it-up study on Italian revolutions, having been stirred up on the subject by Professor Solpietro :) Thank you both!
